Over 1000 pre-entries promise excitement for Tallinn 2011
European Athletics Junior Championships 2011 in Tallinn have met great interest from teams across Europe with pre-entries from over 1015 athletes in 47 countries.
Local Organizing Committee Secretary General Ms Sirje Lippe said the pre-entry lists indicate that the championships titles will be awarded in very tough and exciting competition. “It is wonderful to see so many good athletes and so many countries planning for the junior title championships in Tallinn. Our team is working hard on making this meeting unforgettable to all athletes as well as team members and fans,” Lippe said.
In terms of delegation pre-entries, the largest team has been submitted by Germany with 116 delegates, followed by Russia with 92 delegates, Great Britain with 85 delegates and France with 82 delegates.
The deadline for final entries is July 11, shortly after then the start lists will be announced. The hosting nation Estonia is hoping participate with a team of 25-30 junior athletes, including half a dozen top contenders.
21st European Athletics Junior Championships 2011 will be held in Tallinn, Estonia on July 21-24.
